Earned Value Management
Earned value management
Earned Value Management, Built In, Not Bolted On
Most construction project management software tracks a schedule and a budget side by side and calls it done. Neither one tells you whether a project is actually ahead or behind until it is too late to do anything about it.
Earned value management (EVM) answers the question both of those miss: for the work actually completed, are we ahead of schedule, behind it, over budget, or under? Jig computes the real metrics — planned value, earned value, actual cost, CPI and SPI — automatically, tied directly to your schedule's definable features of work (DFOW) and your budget. No spreadsheet, no separate EVM consultant.
How it works in Jig
- Every schedule activity is linked to a definable feature of work, a physical, measurable piece of the building.
- As work is marked complete in the field, Jig calculates planned value, earned value, and actual cost against that linkage automatically.
- CPI and SPI update in real time on the project dashboard, not just at month-end.
- This earned-value engine runs standard, on every seat, on every project, at any account size — it is not a toggle you have to buy.
Why this matters
A project can be "on schedule" and still be bleeding money, or "under budget" and quietly falling behind. EVM is the only metric that catches both at once, and it is standard practice on federal and large commercial work. Jig brings that same discipline to every project, regardless of size.
Forecasting, portfolio roll-up, and the one add-on
The CPI/SPI engine above is included at base price on every seat. Forward-looking forecasting — estimate at completion (EAC), CPM scheduling forecasts, portfolio-wide roll-up across every job, plus single sign-on and audit export — is Controls, the one paid add-on: $299 a month flat, any account size. See the Controls section of pricing for the full breakdown.
See the full glossary of terms — CPI, SPI, EAC and more — or read how definable features of work make earned value possible in the first place.
